"Bubble" Haute Couture Costume Jewellery
This was a design made in higher national diploma yr1. It was inspired by pebbles and designers Paco Robane and Sarina Suriano. The piece was made with Pine and Mahagony. Pine was chosen particularly for its change in grain and colour created when turned on the lathe. This type of wood is also one of the lightest existing. Mahagony is then used as to create a different pattern due to its contrast in grain and colour compared to Pine. The pieces where then all liquid sanded and sanded evenly and waxed as to give it a smooth surface on the skin and also as a form of protection from humidity. The pieces where then drilled and chained together using screw eyed screws. This piece was warn in the fashion show and exhibited in the June 2011 Flavours Exhibibition at MCAST Mosta. http://www.flickr.com/photos/hazehaze/5896203351/in/photostream/lightbox/
