Strongest 3 pavilion ideas

These 3 paper model designs were the strongest designs compared to previous concepts.

The following are the models which were developed from these designs.

Cardboard and Paper Models for TV studio set design

These TV studio set designs for the TV programme "Int Min Int?" were made out of thin cardboard and paper.  The red reflects a red carpet which welcomes the guests.  The black and white colours reflect different races all connected into one community of people.  Seating lies at the left, the artist at the middle back area, and the stage on the right hand side of the studio.

Paper Models

These are preliminary paper models for the pavilion design.  They were made by cutting and folding, as well as paper found objects such as cake decorations and paper cupcake holders.

"The Late Late Show" 2009

"The Late Late Show" by Darragh Treacy was the winner of the 2009 idi Design Awards. It is a set design for all ages, but it relates to youths as it is a comedy talk show.  The theme for this studio was to create a warm and timeless studio set, created by its warm curved wood panels and flooring, as well as relaxing lighting.

The set is made out of walnut (wood) and Velvet draping, giving the area a rich and luxurious look.  It is then surrounded by sleek clean lined furniture and modern lighting technologies which all in all, give the place a retro yet contemporary look.  The theme for this show was perfectly executed.

"All Access"

This is a 2010 Television studio set designed by Michael Grill. The show is an M-Net studio called All Access, which is a magazine show programme.  What instantly captures the eye is the fresh look given by its linear contemporary forms.   The glossy flooring and panelling contrasting tones, between dark, matt and luminous objects, gives the place a unique perspective.

"Good Friday Show"

This set design captures the eye by the use of neon LED lighting.  The set is made up of a seating area for the audience all around the stage area where all the action gaming takes place.  The seating is integrated with the stairs continuously with the stage curve.  On the right the players stay on a pedestal and at the back lays a piano playing section. On the left the set can be easily changed depending on the game played.

Visual Permeability Pavilion

The idea of this pavilion is to relax with friends and family, as one can sit, chat and walk on this pavilion.  Half of it is designed for the ones who would like to relax and are located in a private setting.  The other is for having a conversation between four people.

The idea of shape came from one continuous strip that wraps around itself.  The wood then touches the ground at very small regions, feeling as though it grows out from the ground.  Each area is sectioned in three sections and densities; the lower part having the most density is for walking on, the second are rising up is a bit lighter and serves as a backrest to form seating and the top parts serve as shading and this part has the least volume.

The material used is furniture/grade birch plywood.  What is great about birch wood is that it withstands rain and any other unusual weather conditions.  The process was made with various digital fabrication techniques, meaning using only digital design methods.
